Root Rot

Known as Root Rot, this condition is developed after taking certain kinds of root-based drugs and is named for the way it makes its victim's limbs appear to rot away.

Symptoms

Symptoms vary in intensity from case to case, they also develop at different times throughout the process of the condition. First and foremost are symptoms similar to that of withdrawal, cold sweats, and loss of breath or lung capacity. From there a victim may experience regular nose bleeds, while not concerning at first it quickly grows in frequency and duration. A few cases have reported similar bleeding episodes from the ears and out of tear-ducts, the exact nature of which is still largely unknown.   One of the weirder symptoms on the list, many report a loss in balance and direction, which leads to confusion and difficulty moving around without help. These are attributed to untreated roots attacking and feeding on nutrients meant for our vision and hearing. Severe cases of this type of loss are also most likely to experience bleeding from the eyes and ears as stated before.   The last and most lethal symptom in the loss of muscles, this occurs in targeted areas, most known in the forearms and lower-legs. Commonly mistaken for arthritis or nerve conditions, one slowly becomes weaker in these areas. The muscles begin to atrophy. Discoloration follows suit, slow at first but picking up speed as time goes on, the skin becomes bruised and darkens dramatically over time. Eventually, a chronic pain sets in as nerves are irreversibly damaged, and soon control over the muscles is lost completely.   The end-stage is when all feeling, including pain, is lost in the targeted area, at this point the limbs are so dark and twisted they look like rotting roots, giving the condition its name. It is at this point that severe action is taken.

Cause

Root Rot develops after frequent use of root-based drugs, most of these come in the form of dry-powders and are easily accessible. The more a person uses a drug, the faster and worse the condition will develop. While it has not been cited to develop after only a single-use, there is still a possibility, especially in a more potent dose.

Cure/Treatment

While there is no true 'cure' for the treatment, victims can take a multitude of medicines and undergo certain medicinal spells to treat symptoms. Unfortunately, the rotting of limbs cannot be stopped without risk of losing entire portions of one's body, but the pain and numbness of rotting can be temporarily treated s well.   Ultimately there is a point where victims are forced to undergo amputations when rotting has stopped or reached a point where it is safe to do so without risk.
