Astatray are manifestations of the whirling energies of the
Astral Sea. They are not physical beings, though they are able to take physical form. But this comes at the cost of the presents
Astrerya can take on any form, but once they have chosen one in which to manifest it is unlikely that they will be able to choose another one. Usually, this is in the shape of a regularly occurring humanoid, but this is by all means simply a tread and not the law.
Fitting an asteray into your game.
If you are running a fantasy game in any sort of traditional setting you are mostly already good to go. All that is really needed is to know of that world equivalent to the astral sea and how they might have gotten to where the game is taking place. Outside of that as long as the setting in which you are playing has some sort of magical or supernatural energies running through it. Then it should still be quite easy to come up with a reason for such a creatures existence as it is by no means uncommon for the existence of dreamlike otherworlds to be present.
In more futuristic locations, Astaray could still be featured as being of psychic energy or transdimensional beings from a world without solid form.
