Gaske
Long-Eared Friends of Beasts
Gaske vary greatly in height, between 4’6” and 6’6” being the common range. They have golden or copper skin that shines in the sun, and some Gasken show flecks of silver along their arms and legs. Tiny horns decorate either side of their foreheads, and they have long, pointed ears. They also have a catlike tail that improves their balance, but isn’t strong enough to pick up anything.
A superior sense of smell lets them identify and track living creatures.
Gaske tend to prefer leather and hide armor over heavier metal armors. They often use axes in combat; their swords, when they use them, tend to be chopping weapons like the dacian falx. With their preference for light armor and chopping weapons, Gasken fighters almost always use shields in melee combat.
Many Gaske go everywhere with an animal companions, whom they treat more as a partner than a pet. In Gasken society, it’s common to speak to an animal as you would another person; on the other hand, it’s considered rude to ignore an animal or speak down to it.
A Gaske’s birthright is a magical affinity for animals, but different people connect with different types. If a Gaske tries to use hir power on an animal outside hir type, double its power cost.
The most common types of animals with which people form an affinity are as follows:Birds

Rodents & Small Mammals
Snakes & Lizards
