The Ruling Families

The Ruling Families make up the managing council of San Francillieth - controlling the other 7 tribes of the city. The current Families are The Cassalanter Family; The Dran Family; The Alagondar Family; The Sedarnels Family; and The Vorzin Family. Each mantaining a cadre of professionals and artisans under their control - offering anyone talented enough lodging and food if necessary, and pay for their funeral if needed. They wield tremendous political power, covering everything from routine commerce to public projects - but those serving the Ruling Families must pay their dues.

Yet leadership is fickle in the City of Skill Hands. An influential nobleman, an inspiring Pledge Guard of the Tribes, or an unscrupulous high priest manages to secretly gather the support needed to topple the old ruler, and takes the throne for a few years - or perhaps a decade or two - until someone else successfully deposes the deposer. And sometimes outspoke community leaders are put down before they rebel against manufactured threats...

Structure

Each of the Families have a ruling Household Head who is tasked to overlook a certain industry, such as textiles and fabric or metalworking. It is said that the Ruling Tribes are able to cast special group spells together, weaving the magic with their enchanted voices. Yet surrounding the Houdehold Head is a extended network of courtiers that act as "Branch Families" of the leading Tribe.

These courtiers often cover poisitions such as Decisionists, Secretarians, Hoardspersons, and Master Artisans. Each one who ensures a specific aspect of the Ruling House is operating fluidly. These Branch Families can also have gangs of locals operating under them - yet it does not stop others from coveting their positions of privilege.
