Ang Eldunian - The Whistling People

The Ang Eldunian - also known as the Elves, or the Whistling People - are not originally from Ulgrotha. Seemingly carved from the most pristine wood or sculpted from the finest marble, the story of the Ang Eldunian is one of tragedy. They arrived to the Old World in their White-Skin God-ships ages before humanity, and proceeded to colonize much the undiscovered world. They sought allies and thralls - even going so far as enslaving the feline-like Ri'Bassa, or insectoid Aurmadil as their loyal warrior monks. Their White-Skin God-ships - the Tel'Seldarine - were said to meld with the very earth and keep it from shifting ever more.

Many empires and cities were founded by the Ang Eldunian, both on the World and in the Wraith World, including the Anauli Empire, the Realm of the Twin Queens, the long-lost kingdom of Aeritueur, and Solaneillon. The Ang Eldunian ruled lowland, leaving the reclusive Dwarves to their mountains - until the Second Coming of Men lead to many of their holdings falling.

Since, they have claimed to connected to the web of life that gives the world growth and sustenance. While the varied races of elves differ considerably in terms of culture and appearance, they have one thing in common: The Godswar devastated them and the ensuing years have been very difficult. They were the first to fall when the Nerathilord's turned against mortals, their remaining city-states falling away until their last bastion - Tír na Vailin - was all that remained.

Yet since the Godswar, they have been afflicted with a divine malady that renders it impossible to produce children, and also suffer from an inability to access the true power of their Seldarine, who were slain in the Godswar. With most of their youngsters slain in that same battle, the Ang Eldunian are a dying race. With little else left, they cling to what they have left, mostly pride, giving them a reputation as arrogant, cynical, fatalistic people. Some have begun tosinking deeper and deeper into dreaming sleepiness with each passing year - attempting to permently join the Trance they all enjoy. While others refuse to give up - and turn to darker means to preserve their people.

The Elves are very secretive about their nature. This is because all Elves are, indeed, connected through their Trance - a shared dreamscape where they are able to relive their previous lives. This reincarnitive cycles dictate much of Elven Society - as they are all lead by an Anamfath (Soul Prince), which are Eladrins - an elven word for "Soul Uncycled".
With more and more of the Elven Nobility turning to lichdom, however, it has lead to tension with Elves raised among human society. Others worship these undying courts, hoping to follow in their shadow.

But what of Half Elves?

These anomolies maintain a unqiue position across cultures. Severed from the Trance, many conservative Elven cultures consider them nothing more than animals. Yet they are required for the continuation of the Ang Eldunian - yet, among amongst other species, Half Elves are mules.

Unable to have children of their own. Some more immoral flesh peddlers view this as a positive - while the Half Elves themselves must make a choice. Define themselves against their ancestry, or fall away into obscurity.
