Ancestral Worship

With the death of countless gods, many in Ulgrotha had turned from worshipping the old Nerthailords to venderating their ancestors. While the Elves are seemingly immortal, and the Dwarves worship the 20-aspects of Valkauna; the tribes of humanity revere their ancestors, but do not worship them, as there are few clerics who derive their divine powers from ancestors.

Instead, the spirits of the ancestors are seen as helping to guide and defend the people, and might be asked to intercede with an actual deity on their behalf. Some occultists are able to contain their ancestors as Indentured Sprirts - however, there are some places so irrevocably broken that the ancestors will be corrupted. Turning into things such as Shadows, Poltergeits and Allips. Some tribals have dedicated Ghostslayers to return their corrupted ancestors to a restful existence.

Variations & Mutation

Some tribes believe that there are Great Ancestors; Hero-Gods that do indeed look and act very much like gods but they started as mortals. These Hero-Gods deeds were so great that when they died, they did not become minor Ancestors but something else and much more powerful - Archaics. Temple Warriors and Clerics of these Archaics believe that anyone can become one, but they must either succeed an exisiting Archaic, or achieve deeds that allow them to trancend the flesh. Some inspiring venturers believe these myth, though more and more find themselves in an unmarked grave.

Some Arachic of Ulgrotha:

Sizani, the Hunter
Also known as the The Golden Lion of Summer - a barbarian warlord from Uld. According to the tales, she was the only mortal able to strike an arrow through the Strife Emperor, taking his black eye before freeing his slave, and all her deeds are legend.
Sometimes helps people in danger – typically those hunting powerful spirits – and can be recognised by her large skull mask and unending unerring arrows, other times she appears like lioness with white paint marks on her fur.
