Smoden-stilts

For when you absolutely HAVE to go out in the snow.

First invented in 4697, these mechanical boots, when activated, extend 3' long stilts out of the heel allowing the wearer to stride above any unfortunately tall snowfall.
Designed out of necessity due to the increasingly bad weather on the side of Mount Clertonas, they have allowed the Frostfoot Gnomes of Smodenheg to traverse the wild lands outside of their city even after some heavy snowfall.

Access & Availability

Unfortunately, since Smoden-stilts require a small pocket dimension in which to hide the stilts when retracted, they're kind of prohibitively expensive. The only folks who own any are folks who absolutely must leave the city for important reasons.

Complexity

While the boots are of great quality and very warm, there's more to them than just the mundane. Each boot has a small, 1" diameter portal in the heel that goes to a pocket dimension where the stilts are stored when not extended. Only the very tip of the stilt sticks out into the Material Plane when inactive.
