Calden Stronghold

Home of the Circle of Thorns and the Senate of Aflein.

The capital city of Aflein and home to the Senate of Aflein.   Calden Stronghold was formerly a stronghold of the kingdom of Udrya before the war. When the Free People of Aflein rebelled and won their freedom, Calden Stronghold became their primary seat of power and the capital of the nation due to its defenses and central location.

Government

The Senate of Aflein governs the entire nation. The day to day operations of the city are overseen by a sort of "sub-Senate" made up of representatives from the major houses within the city.

Defences

Thick, tall, easily defended walls surround the city with the primary seat of power, the Senate building, sitting atop a large hill on the western edge of the city.

Industry & Trade

A major hub of trade and commerce, Calden is a central location where all sorts of goods are exchanged from the furthest reaches of Evrand.

Guilds and Factions

The Circle of Thorns is a massive gang (more of an organized crime guild) that has its thorns stuck into the sides of every aspect of the city from extorting small shops to manipulating politicians. A rival gang has sprung up recently that threatens to dismantle The Thorns.

Geography

Located almost in the dead center of Aflein, Calden sits between the meeting point of the Aflein and the Cardy Rivers. The three major roads out of the city lead westward to Cardy, northeastern toward Hollow Pointe, and southward toward Calnard Camp and eventually Bamnard.
Primary city of Aflein, matched in size only by Aldith to the west.
