The Gwenel’s is on the run with Joye and Deon. They move deep into the dark forests of Berke.

Cenobio is unhappy with having to flee and blames Joye. The kids are trying to hold it together and they forget temporarily when they are learning magic. Joye feels guilty but tries to keep the mood up and Deon worries about her. They talk it out privately and Joye admits her guilt while Deon calms her down. They are all captured later at night by the nearby witch coven and brought before the crone.
