The First Hunt

The first hunt of a young wolf is celebrated even amongst werewolves. When the cubs are ready to hunt down their first animals the whole pack comes together to celebrate the first step into maturity. The alpha and pack hunters of course helps the young wolf but the wolf cub delivers the killing blow. The young wolf often has siblings and the other siblings that misses it will have to wait until the next time to properly kill their first prey. Usually the pack hunters chooses prey and hen it’s often smaller but if the young wolf chooses they might take on a bigger and the hunt would then be unsuccessful.

Participants

The young wolf is of course most important but the alpha is always present during the First Hunt. The other pack hunters are important to help and make it all go safe and smoothly for the new wolf.

Observance

Mostly at night when the wolves are hunting, around fall after the wolf cubs has observed and even joined in on the hunt they deliver the blow themselves. They who take down an animal on full moon is said to be blessed by the gods while the new moon means the opposite.
