Founding of the Regency

Era beginning/end

Long ago, what is now known as the Regency of Highspire was a monarchy. Eventually, however, came a succession crisis, with all the prominent noble families in the land backing their own candidates to the throne. After much political maneuvering, in order to avoid a civil war, the Stanton family of Astea finally opted to throw their support behind another family, which tipped the balance of power. However, instead of a monarch, a regent was chosen as a "temporary measure". That was the birth of the Regency.
