Session 62 (12. 02. 2020)

Telum Veritas battled the prison's giant earth elemental warden. Isadora engaged with Heartpiercer. Penrose climbed on its back, stabbing it repeatedly, trying his best to distract it from attacking the others. It spat out more crystals and created an anti-magic field. Morgyn went unconscious from a strike, and got some pink glowy healing. Vincent and Lia bombarded the thing and its crystals with fireballs, nearly killing Penrose.
In the end, when all the crystals were broken, Penrose dealt the killing blow. A tired, badly wounded party stood above their fallen foe. Morgyn went around healing people, then the decision was made to push on to the depths of the facility to free the prisoners. Starting with the low security ward.
Approaching the ward, Vincent let loose with another fireballs, killing all the guards there in one strike, which somewhat perturbed the others as it had been agreed that they'd give everyone the chance to surrender. Still, they went to release the prisoners, and found several air genasi among them, sent here by either Attacsus or another djinn, Dhomuri. They were amazed to hear that Attacsus had been killed.
Most of the prisoners immediately ran off, but a number of them, including the air genasi, joined Telum Veritas on their next trip into the medium security ward. The guards here, faced with the angry mob, took the opportunity to surrender their weapons and run away. In the cells, they found a number of magic users in bad condition, their abilities largely stripped away by the crystals growing inside their bodies.
Finally, they turned towards the high security wing. As they marched forward, an incorporeal voice spoke to them: the high security guards using some sort of intercom, warning them to stop or be killed. Lia grew concerned about leading the largely unarmed prisoners into battle, and in the opposite of an inspiring speech, told them to go guard the exit instead. Telum Veritas went forward on their own.
Almost into a trap. As they arrived near the door leading into the high security wing, Isadora noticed what seemed like a large pressure pad covering the entire floor. She pointed it out to the others, but as they stood trying to figure out what to do, a heavy stone slab slammed down from the ceiling behind them, nearly crushing Morgyn. As the others were getting him out from underneath it, Penrose managed to open a portal on the other side, providing a way out.
That didn't help them get a way in, however. Isadora transported Penrose, Obediah and Kim to the door via flying carpet, and they tried to force it open, with little success. They triggered the pressure pad on purpose, and it turned out to be a not-too-deep chasm, complete with rocks falling from the ceiling. The stone slab behind Vincent, Morgyn and Lia began moving, and forced them into the hole. Penrose opened the other portal to get them to safety behind the slab.
As forcing the door yielded no results, they came up with a different plan. Penrose would open one side of the portal near them, then go ethereal, walk through the door, and open the other portal inside to give the others a way in. At the same time, Lia would teleport in with Vincent to provide him support. Morgyn went back through to join Penrose, Isadora, Kim and Obediah, but ended up falling into the chasm again due to some miscommunication. After they got him to safety, Penrose, Lia and Vincent went through.
The two mages ended up in a corner near a group of guards, who immediately stunned Lia with their staffs and put cuffs on her. Penrose came out of the ethereal plane as well, dodged some attacks, and opened the portal just as a guard threatened to kill Lia if they didn't all stand down. Obediah rushed through and eviscerated the guy, though he managed to stab her before he went down. She took it like a champ.
The fight was over quickly, though the guards hit surprisingly hard, clearly better trained than the ones they'd fought before. Vincent got to demolish another group. Morgyn did some more healing, completely exhausting the last of his reserves. Opening the cells, they found two prisoners: a lively galeb duhr named Brock, who joined Penrose in beating the remaining guards to unconsciousness under the guise of interrogation, and one more air genasi man, frail, malnourished and generally in terrible condition. He turned out to be a Tempest named Ralnor.
They left the guards tied up, and returned to the exit. As they were hurt and exhausted, the decision was made to not push their luck further. Most of the prisoners ran, but Brock and the fifteen rescued air genasi accompanied the group to a sufficiently large cave not too far away. Lia promised them to find a way to return them all home, safe and sound.
