Session 58 (15. 01. 2020)

In Highspire, Telum Veritas had a day to themselves, which they spent resting and recuperating. Vincent and Morgyn visited Doctor Valerian, who surprised them with some great progress in her research into Vincent's eye condition. Apparently, his eyes weren't broken after all - the issue was the opposite, they provided too much information for his non-mutated optical nerves to process. Therefore, the solution was to inject him with more modified bloo to mutate him further.   The procedure wasn't painful, but gave him a burning sensation in his eyes. He had to spend the night under the doctor's supervision, while Morgyn excitedly worked through Valerian's research notes. He made a deal with her: he would talk to Carthigan and try to get more of the Shadow bloo for her as the sample Telum Veritas had initially sold her was running out. In exchange, she would find out where a young girl named Veria Winterless was buried. Morgyn did not say why he wanted this information.   In the morning, Vincent discovered that he could see through his bandages and even his own eyelids. However, sunlight hurt his eyes. He returned to the mansion, and met up with the others. After a quick crash course by Isadora, it was time to leave for the plane of earth.   In the Fractured Spine, the tired and demoralized trio of Lia, Penrose and Obediah delved into the depths of the fourth plate. The cave they had found led further in and up. Soon enough, Lia's magic cut out again - they came upon a cave section full of the same crystals they had stolen from the prison, growing naturally, and activated by the constant tremors of the earth. After fighting off some odd crystalline creatures, they found traces of civilization - ancient stairs cut into the rock.   They continued forward and soon came upon a section with rocky spikes blocking much of the tunnel. They crawled through, the sharp rocks cutting and stretching their skin. They came to the bottom of another staircase, and discovered signs that someone had recently come through here. Worried that Djaro might be nearby, they opted to rest before going further. However, they encountered no issues when they finally ascended the stairs. They found themselves on a rocky landing overlooking an ancient bridge leading to the fifth plate. In the distance, they saw a faint green and orange light.   This was the place to stop, at the end of a long and exhausting day. Though the tremors prevented a good night's rest, Penrose's aperture rod could create a safe haven for them to sleep in. They spent a very unsatisfying night, waking up once per hour to use the rod again. In the morning, they stood ready to take on the rest of the Spine.   Telum Veritas opened their portal to the coordinates they'd gotten from the compass, and went through. They found themselves on a badly shaking stone platform in front of a high tower with a green and orange light at the top. Vincent wasted no time sending a sending stone over to Lia with his little air elemental courier spell. Having told him in no uncertain terms that they all needed to stay at home, she was less than thrilled by this, and told him as much. Meanwhile, Isadora was overjoyed to be back on her home plane, which quickly turned to panic upon learning that they were in the Fractured Spine.
