Session 51 (06. 11. 2019)
Defeating the Lightning Legion squad opened the way to escape. Mokki led her people to safety, while Telum Veritas returned to the depths of the base to find Waffles and help Commander Brenland if they could. They ran into more elementals, which they swiftly dispatched. Eventually, they found their way to the stables, and found Waffles safe and sound. They saddled her, but just as they began to move again, Brenland came stumbling out of a tunnel, mortally wounded. He told them to run - he's coming.
Before they could've done so, however, a djinn appeared: Attacsus, leader of the Lightning Legion. He proclaimed that it was over for Neaf Lilthas; Brenland heroically tried to hold him off, without much success. The party engaged the djinn and his entourage of smaller elementals.
Attacsus proved a horribly difficult opponent. Wielding his blade with terrible efficiency, he summoned whirlwinds to hinder the party and slipped around the battlefield with ease. He managed to immobilize Isadora, though Vincent followed up by turning her into a dire beaver once more. Lia called upon her own storm to oppose the djinn's, and struck him with lightning, which made him identify her as a Tempest. Enraged, the djinn drew his full power into a spell, and she vanished from the battlefield.
Telum Veritas fought on. The djinn, severely wounded now, went after Vincent and struck him down. Penrose followed doggedly, and his final strike carved the djinn in half. He died in an explosion. However, before Morgyn could've gotten to him, Vincent expired as well.
Killing the djinn did not bring Lia back. She found herself in a dark, oppressive cave, not on Ellisan Velis anymore. Penrose used his planar rift tracker to identify that she had been sent to the Plane of Earth, and after helping put Vincent's body on Waffles, he followed her through the remnants of that rift, with Khesslia clinging to his back.
The remaining members of Telum Veritas - Morgyn, Kim, Isadora - left the Neaf Lilthas base in a hurry with Commander Brenland. When they met up with Mokki outside, Brenland ordered her to go with them and help them. She led them to a different island where they could camp in relative safety. Morgyn was determined to bring Vincent back.
Meanwhile, Penrose and Khesslia joined Lia on the Plane of Earth. Penrose used his aperture rod to open up a small demiplane for them to take a breather in, but just as they emerged from it, two earth genasi guards showed up. Penrose managed to hide, but they came prepared to capture Lia. Penrose attacked from the shadows, and the two of them, wounded and exhausted, fought for their freedom together.
