Session 49 (18. 09. 2019)

A few days after the Vexseeker incident, Telum Veritas came upon a group of many floating islands. One of the islands had a village on it, with a cave of glittering jewels similar to the setup Lia first encountered when she'd arrived on the plane of air. They mined pallinca crystals here. Just as they were discussing whether to stop in the village or not, there was an explosion in the cave, and they spotted two people fleeing the scene. Isadora and Kim pursued them on the carpet, while a concerned Lia guided Waffles towards the cave to see if there were any injured. The carpet, as it turned out, could keep pace with the flying genasi but couldn't catch up to them. Kim, quick as lightning as always, flew ahead to chase them and came upon a debris field. At breakneck speed, she slalomed around the chunks of rock, and almost caught up to them when her one minute flight was up and she was forced to land. However, she caught a glimpse of them as they moved to a distant island. Meanwhile, at the cave, Vincent's sharp ears picked up screaming from inside. He sent in an arcane eye to look for survivors while Penrose, Lia and Morgyn dug their way through the caved in entrance. As soon as there was a hole big enough for him to squeeze through, Morgyn headed into the still-unstable cave. Thick dust reduced visibility nearly to zero and he had to dodge falling rocks. After widening the hole further, Lia and Vincent followed him in. Vincent's arcane eye found two survivors pinned under a large rock in the very depths of the cave. However, he and Lia had far more trouble moving forward than the nimble gnome, and were pretty battered by the time they caught up to him. Morgyn had found more people, one badly injured and in shock, as his wrist had been crushed underneath a boulder, the other stuck behind said boulder in a side passage. Morgyn freed the first one and healed his wound, but the two of them by themselves had little hope of moving the large rock. Luckily, this was the moment when the other two arrived, and Lia yanked the boulder up into the air, revealing the second miner. Meanwhile, Penrose told Waffles to stay and headed in after the others, but immediately got pinned under a falling rock. Badly hurt, he had to teleport out from under it. Vincent went off to the last two miners, and managed to free them both by reducing their size so they could quickly get out from underneath the rock. After confirming that there had been only four miners working, the group met up with Penrose and headed out, Lia now deflecting the falling rocks. Isadora picked Kim up with the carpet, and the two of them headed to investigate the distant island. However, soon after landing, they were captured by a large group of armed individuals, their leader wearing the sign of the three stars. After tending to the miners, Morgyn messaged Kim asking for her status but received no response. Very concerned by this, they got on buffelback and headed off to look for their missing friends. They found the debris field, and Kim's tracks where she first landed, but a longer search followed as they had no way of knowing where the two had headed next. However, eventually they came to the same island. And, as it turned out, right to the doorstep of Neaf Lilthas. After a tense negotiation, the group allowed themselves to be captured by the rebel cult. Their belongings were taken, though Penrose managed to hide a pistol, Vincent convinced them that his portable hole was nothing but a handkerchief, they were too creeped out by Morgyn's holy symbol to take it, and agreed to let Khesslia stay with Lia after she pointed out that the blitzschlange was still a harmless baby. Then they were taken to a room where they reunited by Kim and Isadora.
