Session 36 (22. 05. 2019)

Telum Veritas split up for a brief amount of time. Vincent and Aella, along with newcomers Ragnis and Hadiah, delivered Newmont to the Shining Crest in Highspire. However, they were in for a nasty surprise. In their absence, the fall of the Spire had been investigated, and with witness testimonies casting suspicion on Telum Veritas's involvement in the incident, the pardon provided by Vince's brother Damian was unfortunately null and void. Aella was arrested; so was Newmont, but he was treated far better.
Meanwhile, Kim and Carthigan were transported to the village of the Grittaka tribe, where their friends Morgyn and Nyx were staying, along with Shegal's family and Nyx's father Duncan. Their reunion was less happy than they'd hoped - Nyx was very upset about Shegal's death as well as Carthigan's present ghostly state, and Morgyn, being a cleric of Navikran, had his own concerns about that situation. Carthigan's apology to Shegal's mother went less than stellarly, too.
In Highspire, Vince finally managed to reunite with Damian, who explained just how bad the situation was. The remnants of the old government had formed into a new party called the Social Axiom. The election was swiftly approaching, and should they win, the Regency would continue down the same dark path it had started on. Damian asked his brother as well as Telum Veritas to help him win. He agreed to work his influence to have Aella released from prison, and to send an airship to Brenston to pick the others up as time was of the essence. Hadiah was also introduced as an emissary from the Wildlands.
In the Grittaka village, Kim's heart-to-heart with Nyx was disrupted by Vince's message about the emergency they were having. After a brief ceremony to honor those they had lost in the Wildlands, Morgyn and Nyx decided to accompany Kim and Carthigan to Highspire. Along the way, they made a brief stop in Brenston, where Carthigan bought a pet lizard and a new bag of holding.
Finally, everyone was reunited in Highspire. Damian explained the plan: Newmont's trial was scheduled for the day before the election, and would be instrumental in deciding the outcome. Currently, they didn't have nearly enough evidence to convict him, but that alone wouldn't be enough even if they could - what they really needed was something that ties the members of the Social Axiom, especially their leader Alexa Sinclair, to Newmont's activities. Then they would be discredited, Damian would become regent, and he could begin his reforms.
He outlined three places where they might find evidence: Newmont's old, now abandoned residence, which had been searched already but some well-hidden clues might still be left; Alexa Sinclair's house, sure to be defended well, but no doubt a treasure trove of information; and the Shining Crest's own hall of records, which probably contained evidence of their own involvement as Telum Veritas had encountered their members in the Spire. This one would be toughest to break into, located in the veritable fortress that was their HQ.
With that, Damian departed, warning them that he could not help further. Telum Veritas and their new allies got to work. Kim and Carthigan went looking for the Resistance, but upon making contact, they were told that there were too many eyes watching. Meanwhile, the others decided to look for Newmont's and Sinclair's homes. The first one was fairly easy to find, but the second proved much more difficult - Sinclair was a very paranoid woman and did her best to hide where she lived. A plan was hatched to have Hadiah meet her at her workplace then follow her home.
Sinclair gave her an address where she might find her, and made her an offer - steal the ablooneum cells Telum Veritas had stolen from the Spire, which would tie them to the scene of the crime. Hadiah cheerfully informed the others of this, then stayed behind and followed the woman to the same address she had been given. After witnessing Sinclair disarm some sort of lock or alarm on her door, she finally returned to the others.
