Session 26 (06. 02. 2019)

As the party camped for the night, Aella tied the Emissary’s summoning hair around a tree while Vincent conjured up a hut for them. Soon, the Emissary emerged. They told her about Carthigan’s predicament, but she wasn’t terribly concerned about him. In fact, she berated them for thinking about saving him instead of going straight for the Felheart. A tense negotiation ensued, during which the Emissary told them what exactly they were up against: Dal Zarma hadn’t left her lair in thousands of years, she knew everything that ever happened in it, and even the Mother couldn’t see into it. She asked what payment they could possibly offer in exchange for help, and the party couldn’t come up with anything she wanted. However, it was at this point that the Emissary discovered something strange about Kim that finally gave her pause.   She told them about a prophecy: the Child of Light will kill the Serpent Empress. This was Dal Zarma’s greatest fear, and the Emissary believed that Kim might be the Child of Light in question. She said that if this is true, the Mother might not ask for payment in exchange for her help. In the end, it was agreed that she would consult with the Mother and return in two nights’ time with the answer.   With the Emissary gone, the group spent the night in the safety of the hut. Gunter and Blooming took first watch, Vincent and Lia the second.   The following morning, they continued their journey and came upon an injured woman that, surprisingly enough, Vincent recognized. Vivienne told them that she and her sister Violet, old acquaintances of his from Astea, had come up north to hunt Dal Zarma’s servants in retaliation to her attack on their island. However, they had been attacked by “snake people” and gotten separated.   She led the group to where the attack had taken place, and they found lots of tracks. As they were following them, Vivienne played her bagpipes so horribly, it actually hurt people. Shortly after this, the ground abruptly gave way under her, and the party was ambushed by the aforementioned snake people.
