Dark Energy (the Expanding)

At the beginning of everything, space was compressed and tiny, and while all others formed in full, fighting in the closest proximities from the yet-young soups of the early universe, one remained hidden among the gasses, too weak to fully Be, and yet too strong to lack form. For millennia, Dark Energy grew steadily, out of the eyes of those of Matter: only watching, they kept afar from the brutality, even as space grew and they gained more power. As Dark Energy quickly grew to match the most powerful of the trio, Dark Matter, soon the trio became too fearful of interaction. Never being of their kind, they had no motivation to take forms more similar to those of the others; still undesiring of their company, Dark Energy sought out a corner of the universe of their own, riding the expanding boundaries of space and growing in power with space's size. Ever since, Dark Energy has remained remote; undetectable by Life and Death, they eventually moved closer to watch them develop. Though begrudgingly interacting with Dark Matter, similarly lost of anyone to talk to, Dark Energy has remained solitary for most of history, absolved to simply watching from afar.

Note:

Astrophysicists are unsure of whether or not dark energy is a substance or simply an effect of empty space. I am by no means an astrophysicist, though I do love myself some frontier space science, and if future research reveals that dark energy does not truly "exist" in the sense of being its own distinguishing thing, then I will just leave this on a wonderful quote:
