White Warrens

Best to steer clear of the Warrens...whole area's a damn hunting ground.
— Delver on the White Warrens
The White Warrens are a series of caverns on the eastern wall of the Rift, just within the Cimmerian. These caverns are home to a hive of Cave Fishers, large albino arachnids known for setting traps of near-invisible webbing to snare their prey. It's rumored that the White Warrens also lead to a buried city, untouched since Saema's death. However, few who have dared to go in have ever come back out.

Geography

While the White Warrens technically stretch for a few miles along the Rift, the "true" Warrens are located at the network's center. Here the caverns turn inward, winding their way into the wall of the Rift. The Warrens are as tall as they are wide, posing a challenge for any delver while simultaneously being a natural habitat for Cave Fishers. Individual caverns vary in size but tend toward mid-sized tunnels, with few tight squeezes.   Somewhere at the heart of the White Warrens lies a forgotten city with treasures untold. What this city was, where exactly it is, or even if there's any treasure left is unknown. The location of the Cave Fisher hive is similarly unclear, and makes delving too deep a dangerous proposition.

Fauna & Flora

The Cave Fishers hunt both in the Warrens and beyond, and pose a threat to any lone delver. Even when traveling in groups, unaware delvers can find their party members suddenly pulled into the darkness beyond. Cave Fishers, as their name suggests, are patient hunters that lay lines of webbing to pull in their prey. Cave Fishers are known to have flammable blood, making fire an effective deterrent and weapon.

Natural Resources

Cave Fishers are sometimes hunted for their filament and blood.   Cave Fisher filament is extremely strong yet light and can be made into a high-quality rope. Unfortunately, the filament must be harvested directly from their abdomen, as once it is extruded as webbing it is too sticky to be used.   Cave Fisher blood is highly flammable and burns for an extended period of time. Additionally, it naturally repels the Rift's cursed darkness, making it an invaluable source of lamp oil for any delver. However, carrying large quantities can be dangerous as any stray embers can lead to a sudden fireball.
