Personal history

Akryn Kidia was a child of the Kidia archonate who was orphaned at the age of six, and adopted by then-monarchs of Koth, Berix and Irased Avolus. She was raised alongside their natural-born child, Princep Leodis, who was expected to inherit. Princess Akryn was twenty one when King Berix perished from an injury turned septic. She wasted no time challenging her adopted sibling for the throne, over the protestations of Queen Irased and her kin, House Kalvi. As Akryn was very proficient at combat, and Leodis not at all, the outcome of the challenge by combat was a foregone conclusion. Akryn reverted to her birth family's surname and crowned herself Queen of Koth, but continued to face challenges from Irased Kalvi and other disgruntled nobles. Nevertheless, the dynasty she founded prospered for nearly two centuries, until it was toppled by Orust Suthis.

The archonate of Kidia was dissolved upon the death of its last natural heirs, Akryn's parents. Its lands and holdings were expropriated by the Crown, or gifted to other land-holders. Akryn's adopted mother, the former Queen-Consort, remained estranged from her for the rest of her reign. She married twice and had three natural-born children from her first marriage, and one from her second.

Mannerisms

She was known to have a bluff and hearty manner at most times, except when angered, when she could be cooly disdainful and even vengeful. Contemporary historians recorded that she expressed no regret over the violent death of her sibling or the subsequent estrangement of her adoptive mother. Reputed to hold a certain disregard for fine manners and elaborate rituals. Fiercely devoted to the cult of Ariel, she nonetheless conducted her prayers and devotions largely in private and didn't take a strong role in public religious life.
