Kingdom of Koth
Founded in the lowlands of central Madara Peninsula some five hundred years ago. Koth was once divided between many smaller principalities with often shifting borders.
Koth's recognized status as a unified kingdom is younger than its norther neighbor, the Kingdom of Tigonne, as well as some of the major city-states comprising the Concord of Ellador. Because of the abundance of arable land, the Kothic territories were heavily disputed for much of their history. Its pre-establishment history is even more bloody and militant than its later history.
It was only when a strong central dynasty was established that the lands of Koth were able to flourish, and the culture could grow and evolve. Because of its bloody history, Koth has always kept a well-armed and well-trained standing army. Though this was ostensibly for defense of the borders, Koth's monarchs were just as often instigators of expansionist policies towards their neighbors. Most notorious of these was King Junah the Conqueror.
Religion
Like most of the Madara Peninsula, the people of Koth, common and noble alike, are overwhelmingly devotees of the Disciples. In Koth, Ariel is accorded a particular respect, and his symbol of the winged lion appears on Koth's flag and coinage, among other places.
Trade & Transport
Koth's largest trade port is Jerrah, which is situated at the mouth of the Relek River. Trade flows down the river from the mountains, and from Jerrah it's directed either along the coast to the cities of Ellador, or overseas to the continent.
Infrastructure
Koth's cities are heavily fortified and its major roads and waterways are guarded at intervals by secured garrisons. For reasons of military logistics, the roads and bridges are typically kept in good repair. Taxes are mitigated by military enrollment. Regions that have high enrollment are typically taxed less heavily.
Political Influence & Intrigue
Koth's monarchs have been devotees of the Disciples, and primarily of Ariel the warrior, roughly since its establishment. The Suthian dynasty in particular has predicated much of its claim to the throne of Koth on the previous monarchs' straying from the rule of Ariel.
