The Edge
The end of the Mortal World is, somewhat unsurprisingly, a dramatic cliff's edge that plunges into the aether below. Here at the farthest reaches of the world, few people make their homes. This is partially because such a settlement is dangerous, prone to falling into the unknowable beyond. The other obvious reason is that such a home would be isolated from the rest of the world. Travel by water is dangerous in the far reaches, since the Edge's falls create intense currents and rapids. There are some places where the wreckage of ships makes this danger obvious, but there are some stretches where there are no rocky outcroppings for vessels to catch on. They simply vanish over the edge, never to be seen again.
