Permanent Hallucinations

Hyello Meowster! How meow I hewp you todyay?
— Mr. Meow, hallucination
Many of the narcotics available in Sorenel and beyond are hallucinogenic in nature and are prone to causing permanent side when taken. One of more uncommon yet most... annoying such sideeffects is the permanent lingering of certain dreamlike aspects in the addict's mind. These are most often aspects of a fever dream which have found a way to remain active in a sober state. Such hallucinations can be removed by cleansing the body entirely of the psychosomatic narcotic either by performing a cleansing or regeneration spell, or by administering drawn out and sometimes painful rehabilitation procedures.
Some examples of such hallucinations include visions of objects floating through the air, the morphing of objects into others, nonsensical characters appearing and possibly talking, or misunderstanding of words others speak. It can prove difficult to ignore for the victim as well as those meaning to converse with them. However on occasion these hallucinations are capable of unlocking latent magical potential in addicts. While this is often explained as the drugs simply acting as a catalyst as many others do as well, some scholars have taken it as evidence for the heretical Faith Theory of divine magic.

Transmission & Vectors

Almost all such permanent hallucinations are caused by derivatives of the pink, green, or lilac Ynna flower. Related and cross-breedable with sylbloom, it has given rise to many varieties of narcotics, the most notable being the Angel's Tear common to Sorenel, or the Feydrop found in the southern cantons. Unlike the colourless Sylbloom, the active agent found in the latex of Ynna flowers is most effective in a crystalized state. As such it is not dried and crushed into powder, but rather processed into the desired form before allowing to cool and harden. This gives rise to the candy-like appearance and consistency of the drugs.
