Herkshire Knight Order
Structure
The organization follows a reasonably simple structure in which there are five attainable ranks that one can hope to achieve within the Order. The first rank is Knight and is meant to be the general infantry of the order which is led by a Knight Captain, or someone who oversees a troop of 4 Knights. After the Knight Captain comes to the Knight Left-Tenant, who helps guide 9 Knight Captains and coordinate the group. After the Knight Captain is the Knight Commander, who, by all intents and purposes is not dissimilar from a general in an army and commands 2 Knight Left-Tenants. And above all is the Knight Supreme, who is the symbol of the order. Also, the Knight Supreme is still the one who helps establish the directive of the order. Furthermore, the Knight Supreme has 5 Knight Commanders underneath him, resulting in a force of roughly 360 active members across the entire region. The organization itself does not have necessarily the deepest pockets in most meanings of the sense. The main difference between them and others is the fact that they are directly gifted benefits from master smiths around the country for their service in protecting the center nation. Thus, the ability for them to acquire magic armaments such as Flame Tongues is possible, if not difficult.
Public History
When the original Knight Supreme Colb first conceptualized the Herkshire Knight Order, the group had the intention and religious duty to protect the crown from any evildoing or any who would misuse the power it gave in the position. As such, while Colb's order was widely respected by the first Davenshire to instate the order, there were several afterward that did not appreciate its existence- especially those who were corrupt. But regardless, the Order has persisted throughout today, with a history over 700 years and continuing to prosper. And in more recent times, the Herkshire Knight Order was initially to provide a new way to attain glory in the monarchical system that had once dominated Herkshire by the Davenshire family. After the abolishment of the original order, the knights began to lose purpose. However, under the guidance of the next Knight Supreme, a man who went by the moniker of 'Auriel,' the Knight Order transformed from a pure private guard to the military and protection of the state nationwide.
