Crystal Dragon

The most common true dragons of Triumve are more commonly known as crystal dragons due to their psionic nature.   Although the first crystal dragon, Aegiss, was created by Absylus, they rebelled against him and created/became the Mindscape (also known as the Plane of Dreams) which connects all sentient beings. From there, Aegiss broke off pieces of herself, creating the seven Progenitors which each came to encapsulate different aspects of Aegiss and, by extension, mortal psyches.   These Progenitors fragmented themselves further still, giving rise to what are known as the crystal dragons (the Progenitors are more akin to Demi-Gods/avatars of Aegiss), moulding them into reflections of themselves, although that is not to say that all crystal dragons are alike to each other or their Progenitor, or that they all remain near each other. In fact, crystal dragons are generally territorial and fiercely independent, although their large egos often lead them to surrounding themselves with 'lesser' creatures, resulting in a number of draconic cults where the crystal dragons are worshipped as divine beings either in their own right or in connection to their Progenitor.   Although superficially similar to saurtara Matriarchs, the two races have a tumultuous history which can be generally summed up as unfriendly at best and outright hostile at worst, as most saurtara consider crystal dragons abominations since they were created by Absylus and, to a lesser extent, because psionics is very rare in saurtara and unheard of in Matriarchs.   Some crystal dragons have even killed and replaced a saurtara Matriarch (overtly or covertly) in order to ruler over a Colony in their stead, although such Colonies do not tend to last very long since they cannot bear young as the Matriarchs do and if the Colony manages to survive then it usually does so by subjugating others before it eventually becomes dominated by one or more of the others races who have far less complicated reproduction methods.   Unlike the elementally-inclined saurtara Matriarchs crystal dragons' abilities revolve around a specific sphere of influence unique to each of their kind. For example; diamond dragons manipulate life and death and so they can either breathe out positive or negative energy.

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Crystal dragons are incapable of reproducing in any traditional way. While two crystal dragons can indeed have a child, the 'mating' effectively occurs in the Mindscape, where the child is gestated before being physically 'born' onto the material plane as an egg at a next that one or both of the crystal dragons prepare in advance. A few months after that, the wyrmling hatches.

Growth Rate & Stages

Crystal dragons mimic the life cycle of saurtara matriarchs, taking about a half century to century to reach 'adulthood' and getting progressively larger and more powerful with age.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Crystal dragons are generally firecely independent and territorial, especially when it comes to their own kind, but they all tend to have inflated egos and so often surround themselves with or visit 'lesser' races to subjucate, hunt, terrorise or simply just interact with to one degree or another.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Like all true dragons, crystal dragons have highly refined senses, including sight, hearing and smell.

Civilization and Culture

Gender Ideals

Crystal dragons don't have a physical sex, although many of them favour male or female forms, even if for the ease of identification and pronouns.
