Glowing Death

Glowing Death is a type of moss found on the Realm of Wind. Known as a harbinger of death and bad luck the moss is hunted and killed by many of sentient species of the Realm of Wind.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Glowing Death is like many other mosses from other realms. It is somewhat fluffy and airy and can grow to a surprising mass. It gets its name from the fact that it glows sending a spiralling display of colors meant to attract prey for the moss to consume.

Growth Rate & Stages

Glowing Death is a two stage plant. First is its spore stage, which is considered its most dangerous stage. The spores put off by a parent plant, will travel for upwards of ten kilometers hoping to happen upon a host for which it to start growing. Once it has found a host it will nearly instantly shift to its second stage of life, that of which it is most visibily recognized for, the moss like state. Thankfully the spores are nearly the size of a grape and often can not be unwittingly breathed in.

Ecology and Habitats

Once a spore or strand of the Moss has found itself a host/prey, it will slowly convert all of the unlucky thing into more of the moss. The moss mostly subsides on the air of the Realm of Wind and only needs small amounts of more heavy elements from its prey. A large catch can provide the Moss enough substance to grow to many kilometers across.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

As a plant it doesn't so much see or hear. However it has a developed sense of touch and can ensnare that which it hunts with a simple touch.
Conservation Status
The species is often considered to be a threat in need of extinction than protection by most of the Realm. However the Toloran do their best to protect the moss seeing it as a manifestation of their dead god.
