Εlysium
Demographics
The majority of the Elysium population consists of those of Earthean descent. In more recent years, people from other planetary systems have come to stay in Elysium because of the bustling businesses, scientific achievements, big parties, and being close to the Interstellar Relay Station. It is quite a tourist destination.
Government
Although democratic on paper, all officials and leaders are members, owners, or supporters of large corporations. Almost all services are provided by these corporations for profit. There are several parties that attempt to gain power, mostly headed by competing companies.
Defences
Elysium is surrounded by a barrier that protects it from high velocity objects that can be thrown about the Mars winds.
Industry & Trade
There is anything and everything in Elysium. The big corporations make medicine, robotics, weapons, and recreational technologies, and many work for said corporations.
Guilds and Factions
The current faction in power is the Mars Republic Party, headed by Avery Cross, who got his start in politics as a board member of Celestial and continues to work with them.
Currently, the gang of The Erinyes are on the prowl, and are giving Avery Cross a run for his money.
History
Elysium was officially founded in 2001, many of Earth's elites fleeing the chaos of the First Contact War. Travel to and from Mars became more accessible with over the next decade, and by the time WWIII rolled around, many less fortunate impacted by the war were also able to flee to Elysium. That was when Elysium morphed from a high end luxury destination to a sprawling citadel with rich and poor alike.
Geography
Elysium sits facing the locally named Fell Sea on one end, and the aptly named Barrens on the other. There is nothing else for miles.
Natural Resources
Ore, specifically magical stones.
