Civilisation still reels a thousand years after the disappearance of the gods at the time of The Sundering. Their influence and power still linger and the world has fallen into disarray. A forest created from the only known death resulting from the Sundering, the northern Forests of the Wild Grove flourish amongst the remains of Melora. While deep inside lies a hidden sanctuary housing the only known door to the Feywild, protected portals, Orphans and Foxes, known as the Verdant Door. A city of Wildfolk made up of halflings, forest gnomes and wood elves which has significantly restricted access by decree of the Grovetenders. Now, the mysterious Rimeplague encroaches ever closer. The northern regions of the Grove are becoming engulfed in an endless Winter. Meanwhile the lands of the south itself become corrupted, twisted plants and malevolent fauna roam the desecrated glades. Nestled within the World's Edge Mountains, a grand mountain range that simply "falls into nothing", Nobles and influential outlanders of the reclusive Dwarven-ruled Hökensberg clamor the beneath the ailing King Ernole to claim the title of Höken, or High King. Now the son of Ernole, young Kuhnwulf pup Delan cautiously peers at suspicious faces that were once friends at the multitudes of parties and gatherings, all while the streets are filled with underhanded trades and assassinations rumoured to be at the behest of The Embassy under the guise of the Reiter Families.
