Verlio City

The residents of Verlio city, as a whole, party like mad during the night time. Pokémon Center employees and other essential workers carry a vibe of just waiting for their shift to end so they can hit the town.

Districts

One of the city’s main attractions is the Casino Night Zone, or gambler’s road to those who frequent the area. It is full of games, entertainers, and flat out scams, all aimed at changing your money into their money. The area is seemingly policed by the Gym Leader, who enforces but one rule: No Lying. Whatever you say must be the truth, (though no rule says it must be the whole truth), and those who break this cardinal rule are typically found stoned out of their minds the next day, with all their profits (and parts of their memory) gone. It’s rumored that repeat offenders seem to lose their energy, before vanishing.

Points of interest

Another important location, to the city’s history if not the economy, is the Haunted House. Most people avoid the place, but curious explorers will discover the Pokeball statues that mark the building as the city’s Pokémon Gym. The inside of the building is a classic old spooky mansion, with a spiral staircase in the main room and a near maze of corridors connected to other rooms. If one were to bring a Ghost Pokémon in an attempt to bypass the walls, they would discover a nasty surprise: the walls of the mansion cannot be phased through. The mansion is patrolled by Golett, which move robotically and don’t acknowledge any trespassers unless attacked, in which case they retaliate. Some Golett carry Litwick with them, illuminating the house and, within their light, turning the walls of the house phantasmal. Trying to climb the spiral staircase yields a strange phenomenon, in that you can ascend it for as long as you want, but will never move up it. The only way to bypass this is by using the key guarded by one of the mansion’s caretakers, a Rotom who uses a custom device to appear as a face in the walls.

Characters in Location
The Gym Badge given by the leader here is the Phantoon Badge. It appears to be modeled on a candle, with a flame that appears dull and gray to those who have not earned it. To those who have, the flame appears alive with the same multicolored flames of the ghost tornado that occupies the mansion. The Phantoon Badge grants invisibility or truesight to those who hold it. If the holder is already invisible, they are protected from a layer of truesight.
