Sinclair
Theme: The Only Thing I Know For Real / Disenchanted
Sir Lucien Sinclair
A grim man in a suit who serves as the Field Team Leader for Team Relic. He is calm and stiff, and always keeps his promise. He was amused by Jace's thoughts about honor.
When the party first encountered him, he and his goons were forcing a pack of Sandshrew to dig into the back of a gigantic Torterra. He made a bet with Jace to release the Sandshrew if Jace could beat him in a Pokémon battle. During the battle, Sinclair himself attacked wielding his Honedge as a rapier, but once Jace defeated his Seviper, Sinclair conceded the victory and released the Sandshrew. He followed this by detonating some explosives, and attempting to lift Torterra through a magic sky circle, but he was stopped by our heroes.
He was next encountered captaining the Spiral Fang, where he tricked Jace into letting him capture Connor. Connor made some 4d chess plays and tricked Sinclair right back, disorienting him enough for him to forget to restrain his prisoner, leading to an eventual reversal and escape that Sinclair didn't seem too upset about.
Sinclair was met again at the Jaslow City training center, challenging all comers to a duel. When Jace won, he confirmed he was there for personal business as opposed to terrorist stuff. He also provided Jace with a TM for Shadow Claw and gave Connor a reference to a Move Tutor in Quefkal City, and even taught Jace his special method of focus. Unfortunately, he awoke the pair in the night in order to - very intentionally and indirectly - warn them about an attack the next day. Our heros didn't run, which brought a smile to his face as he dueled them with a new pair of Bisharp.

Past
Sinclair was once a renowned trainer. He had collected badges from all eight gyms, and completed the Pokémon League Challenge. He was traveling the region, righting wrongs and saving people, until he found the traces of a conspiracy. He followed the conspiracy to its source and was challenged by the leader. If Sinclair won, the leader would disband his group and end the conspiracy. If the leader won, however, Sinclair would join him and assist him, following his orders. Noble and confidant, Sinclair accepted and eventually got the leader on the ropes. Then, the leader cheated - an idea that had never occurred to the honor-bound Sinclair. Defeated in battle and ideology, Sinclair submitted himself and now serves the leader with a quiet regret.
Sinclair is, in fact, the missing Champion.
Morality & Philosophy
