Nelloda City

Nelloda City is located at the source of the river that splits the region. Atop the Spine of the World, the city and its surroundings are perpetually cold.

Industry & Trade

One of the most important places in the city, and the Gym Leader's main job, is the mountain spring from which the great river flows. The Gym Leader is responsible for cleaning the river and removing blockages, and has also started up two more industries surrounding it: Transporting goods and people downstream, and maintaining the glacier that the river flows from.

The glacier is protected, and wooden floats are loaded with goods and sent downstream in exchange for airdropped payment. The payment is also mostly goods, and the economy within the city is primarily barter. Nelloda city is responsible for supplying Braslin city, and in exchange the few citizens who leave are given lifetime passes to Braslin's resorts.

Infrastructure

Domes of ice are constructed to both trap heat and focus sunlight, serving as perfect farming areas. It is these "farming domes" that the residents use to produce their food. Other foods are also produced here, only to be shipped off to Braslin city.

Points of interest

To earn a gym badge, the challenger must pass through the maze of reflection, a frozen labyrinth set up like a house of mirrors. Getting lost results in a battle with your reflection, or one of the many ice types that make the maze their home. At the end of the maze, Dominic waits in a frozen bowl, making it harder for challengers to maintain their footing. After getting a grip on the challenger's rough skill level, Dominic raises up reflective icy walls that make landing an accurate shot difficult if not impossible.

Tourism

Tourists flock to the city, but usually only get close enough to take pictures before leaving. This is because of the staggering cold. To deal with this, some of the sharper residents have set up outposts in optimal photo-taking range to charge for the pictures. These residents are often the only ones to interact with outsiders, and so are also responsible for bringing back news of the outside world and facilitating trade.

Architecture

The freezing temperature of the area lends itself well to domed buildings. The architects of the city have incorporated ice into their designs, secure in the knowledge that it will never melt. Towering ice sculptures reflect light through the city to create one of the most beautiful cities in the region.

Climate

The city is always cold, and usually close to freezing.
