Endsfield

A small farming town on the southern edge of the Deep Maw in northwestern Anauroch.

Demographics

Endsfield is home to many races, due in large part to the nature of its establishment. Established by Dwarves, few remain after the town was abandoned for greener pastures. A budding Halfling community has developed within the towns community, supporting the remaining grain farms and mill surrounding the town.

Government

The towns holdings are ruled over by a rotating "Head of Hearth" who sees over most local affairs such as land sales, legal council and notary. The current appointee has been found absent as of late.

Defences

The town is fortified with watch towers on the North, South and Eastern approaches. Rotating armed guards man the towers, so that each tower is always occupied. The town's organized watch is lead by Teddleford Burchtender, who oversees the towns defense and law keeping.

Infrastructure

The town's current main draw is it's Inn, the Sullen Moon, Owned and operated by Darrel and Melba Addlespur. The Inn offers various accommodations and refreshments, and has become a common stop for travelers heading south along the Western Plains of the Anauroch. The town is also home to a smithy, the last remnants of it's Dwarven origins, acompanied by an alchemists repository. Of interest to many travelers heading into the desert are the curio shops and the local Bedine merchants. In these places all manor of item and resource may be found, words of wisdom often going for the highest price. Of the old Dwarven fungal croppers outpost, only weather beaten abandoned buildings remain. Much of the infrastructure is compromised, and the stability of the structures have endured many rough storms brought up from the Maw's edge over the years. In spite of this, recent attentions of entrepreneurial forces have fallen upon this aged wreck.

History

Endsfield was erected shortly after the fall of returned Netheril in 1487 as a farming reserve for dwarven enterprises in the region. In 1489 a fungal farming operation was established, drawing in humans and halflings from nearby towns and villages to fill the growing need for laborers. The towns population swelled to just over 100 inhabitants as the rise of farming efforts peaked in 1504, followed shortly by the utter collapse of farming viability in 1507.
