Salg de Sjel (SAHLG duh SYEHLL)

There are many awful places in Titan Spire. One could argue it has more than its fair share of misery, if there were anything else in the universe to compare it against.   But the darkness and desperation it takes to enter the district of Salg de Sjel is of an entirely different nature. This is where you go when you have nothing to lose, no hope left, when you're out of options with no one to turn to or nowhere to run. Here, you can get anything, anything at all, as long as you're willing to pay dearly for it.   Devils rule the main streets, which means if you follow their dark esoteric rules (most of which you will not know), you can generally walk unaccosted through their domain without too much issue, besides of course whatever you traded away for the privilege. They are the creators of the Alterri de Opfernblut, and the first and most important of their rules is to make an offering.   Once you depart from the paths well-traveled, however, no such protections are available. Demons roam the back alleyways, and their only goals are chaos and destruction. They only respect power enforcable with violence, and they only grow stronger the more violent they become. Most who deal with demons summon and bind them from a safe distance; to physically encounter one means likely possession and/or death, unless you are a cultist in its service.   Those who live here do so because they deal in vile and monstrous things, things like the buying and selling of souls, the creation of curses for cruel death or lasting vengeance, horrid serial murders or twisted human experiments. Nothing that can survive in the light would live in these shadows.
If you enter....you will return much changed, and not for the better.

Important Locations

The River Weise - Running from the Elemental Spire of Water to the Incandescent Hearth for cooling and then out to the Astral Sea, the River Weise is mostly inaccessible, underground or channeled by pipes, but it surfaces and runs in front of the entrance to Salg de Selg to keep the exiled darkness trapped inside. To enter the district, one crosses a moat over the steaming river, which is heated from its journey through the Hearth in such a way that it imbues the river rocks with its heat indefinitely, even when they are harvested.   The Soul Market - There is a courtyard, fairly deep into Salg de Sjel, that sits on the cusp between devil territory and demon. This is the destination of most who enter here. Here, bargains can be struck, deals can be made, and contracts can be signed, all in the relative safety of this strange neutral zone.
