The Iron District

Tetsu Chiku

Entering Tetsu Chiku for the first time feels like entering a different city altogether, as foreign music and people are jostled together in crowded market streets that seem friendly enough to outsiders, but one should realize the costs for those not native to the district will face inflated prices, if they are sold to at all. The People of Iron keep to themselves mostly, aside from wealthy merchants that decide to ply their trade in Titan’s market square. Contraptions of all kinds can be found here, as magic is seen as inherently chaotic outside of their long lived mysticism. They are known for developing the spyglass, black powder, fireworks, and providing Titan with most of its parchment and mass printing. It’s leadership had known dealings with prominent Titan figures such as Gaelen and Issac Chauncey, and there is little opposition to the strict ideals of the Legion here, preferring obedience and security over personal freedoms.

Demographics

80% Human, 15% Dwarven, 5% Other

Government

Tetsu Chiku is predominately run and organized locally. It is far stricter than most of Titan, though some believe just as corrupt.

Defences

The Iron District keeps its own local guardsmen. They seem to care little for Titan’s overall government, or lack thereof, and respect wealth, discipline, and intelligence. Their buildings are sturdy, metal, and only reluctantly open to outsiders.

Industry & Trade

The Iron District trades its innovations with the rest of Titan for food and transport for its exports.

Infrastructure

The Iron District is solidly built by dwarves, and designed by the strictly disciplined humans from the East.

Assets

The Iron District is known for building much of the inventions used for farming, shipbuilding, and navigation. Spyglasses, compasses, abacus-like calculators, and black powder are some of the more esoteric technologies the People of Iron brought to Titan, which they keep closely guarded.

Guilds and Factions

The Kin are the local underworld power that both protects and exploits local businesses and politics.

History

The People of Iron were originally from the Tithen Empire, the sixth kingdom to fall to the Legion onslaught, and the scars of the Citor Empire’s betrayal still lingers in recent memory of the elders. While most of their people surrendered in that battle, the People of Iron had set out when it became clear that the Legion seemed unstoppable. Only half of them eventually made it to Titan to settle, but brought their culture and innovations with them. While Titan was welcoming to the refugees, their recent betrayal caused them to be fiercely independent and keep their newly claimed district separate from others.

Architecture

The local architecture seems like a cross between dwarven metal working and elven art, with sweeping rooftops of extraordinary color, but suffocatingly crowded on street level, as humans are known for.
