The Betrayal

The Citor Empire's Betrayal of the Tithen Empire shocked the Continent. This was the first time an Empire willingly joined the Legion and made every territory weary of their neighbours.

The Conflict

Prelude

The Legion had recently taken the Thitor Empire and the Prashan Kingdom, completed a pincer move and devastated the Revell Dynasty and the Gaelia Territory surrendered. As a result, the remainder of the Continent separately and together declared war on the Legion. The Legion moved a majority of their forces South to wage war on the Khulon Empire, crushing them with numbers. The Tithen Empire, who was on the Eastern front, saw an opening and decided to attack. The Citor Empire, which would be the next front line should Tithe fall, agreed to send forces to Tithe and to the capital, so the Thithen Empire could start a massive invasion.

Deployment

On 25 of the Fourth, 25,244AE, Lead by Warlord General Shengin Makami , Tithe sent a massive amount of forces from their fortified cities to the front line of Prasha. Tithe had the advantage due to the amount of soldiers they had mobilized and the relatively small border they had to contend with. The Tithen Army faced minimal resistance and was able to march onto the Capital in 26 of the Fifth, 25,244AE.   True to their word, by the 5th of the Sixth, 25,244AE, The Citor Empire had mobilized thousands of men to replenish forces in Tithe and entered the fortified cities, capital and borders of Tithe while their soldiers were away.

Battlefield

On the 5th of the Sixth, 25,244AE, the Tithen Warlord General Shengin Makami, was made aware that the Citorian Army had began pillaging the cities they were sworn to protect. The Tithen Army immediately turned around and began their march home to save their capital and attack the betrayers.   Somehow, during the march back to Tithe, the Tithen Army faced more resistance and took significant casualties.   On the 15th of the Sixth, 25,244AE, the remainder of the Tithen Army arrived at the border of the once Prashan Kingdom and Tithen Empire. The Tithe's were met by the Citorian Army, now wearing Legion colours.   The exhausted Tithen Army was given the order by their Warlord General Makami to surrender. The Tithen Empire had officially fallen.

Outcome

The Tithen Emperor were publicly executed by the former Citorian King, under permission of the Legate known as The Quiet One. The Tithen Emperor and his family's death were slow and painful, his body left to rot on display as an act of disrespect.   The surrendered Tithen Army were forced to serve as Legion Conscripts, but not before the Legion forced them to beat one in ten of their own men to death.   Warlord General Makami's fate is unknown to the public. Some say he dishonored himself and fled the battlefield after commanding the surrender. Others say he was able to escape after capture. Others say that he is a high ranking official in the Legion army now. However, the Legion's official stance is that he has been killed.

Aftermath

The Tithen Empire's fall at the Citor Empire's betrayal sent shock waves around the continent. Every remaining territory became weary of the offers of aid from their neighbours and corruption was suspected everywhere. This outcome created further friction between the empires and prevented any sort of coalition for the remainder of the war.   The Tithen people harbor a deep hatred for Citorians. As a result of their betrayal, the Tithen people may never get along with the Citorians again. Refugees from the Tithen Empire are a close knit community, who are very reluctant to let strangers in.

Historical Significance

Legacy

This battle was a major turning point in the war in favour of the Legion. If Citor had not betrayed Tithe and the Tithen invasion had occurred, the Prashan Kingdom could have been liberated, pushing the Legion back into a corner of the continent. With a recently captured Prasha in conflict again, it is of no doubt the Prashans would take up arms against their captors. Instead, Citor betrayed the Legion, allowing them to conquer the North, gain a foothold in the South, surround Wraepura and sow distrust in the remaining kingdoms.   The motivations behind the Citor Empire's betrayal have yet to be uncovered.

In Literature

Raro the Lore Master wrote of this conflict, dubbing it the Citorian Betrayal. Though usually quite neutral, Raro has writes of this conflict with clear sympathy towards the Tithen Empire.   Raro as written a possible motivation for the betrayal being an old hatred between the territories and the fear that if the Tithen Empire pushed back the Legion, they would claim the territory as their own.
