Royal Guard

Qualifications

In order to become part of the Royal Guard, one must be a citizen of Tirla, have a basic education, be able to pass the medical exam given by one of the royal physicians, and must be willing to serve their life for the royal family.

Requirements

They must be over the age of 18. A Royal Guard can either be monster or human, it does not matter, but should they become pregnant, they are put on permanent leave until their child is grown. They will still be paid wages, as it is a great honor to serve the Royal Family.

Appointment

Anyone participating in the Royal Guard training camp will one day be elevated to Royal Guard status. This occurs in the Spring, and they will line up in front of the Leader of the Royal Guard (who at this time is Alphys), and each will proclaim their servitude to the Royal Family and to Tirla itself. They are then given a special sword crafted by the Royal Blacksmith, along with armor.

Duties

It greatly depends. Some of the Royal Guard stay in the kitchens, ensuring the safety of both the cooks and the Royal Family from poisoning. Some of the guards do patrols in the gardens or stables, and some stay at the doors or in the meeting hall. There is always two stationed in the hall leading towards the Royal Nursery, which at this time houses the future Prince, Boss. As of this writing, he does not have a specific guard of his own, although that may change in the future. Neither does the future Queen, Red, as the marriage is new, but that will soon change as well.

Benefits

It is great honor to be part of the Royal Guard. Along with that, you are promised a specific salary which will increase depending on duties. A guard who does the bare necessities will make a living wage equal to what is the minimum for that year. It is enough to take care of a single person, or a married couple with no children. They are also provided with room and board should they need it within the ground of the castle. As it is modern age, they aren't used as they used to be, but are still open to anyone who requires it.

Accoutrements & Equipment

A set of armor and a longsword are provided. A spear may be as well for those guarding doors.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Should a Royal Guard be found in contempt of the Royal Family, conspiracy, or dallying in their duties, they will be dismissed and giving a severance of a year's wages. Should they be found in league with anyone wishing the Royal Family ill will, attempting murder, or anything of the sort, they will be imprisoned for a month depending on the severity of the crimes. In the very rare instances of a guard actually dealing a killing blow to any of the Royal Family, they will be put to death with no questions asked.
