Humans

Humans were created by Vora, the moon goddess. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and genders. They usually come in one of two sexes, but there are always exceptions. Humans makeup the majority of people south of the Curtain Wall. There are three main varieties of human: the bronze Kaian, the dark Edinu, and the pale Zaru.

Civilization and Culture

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Most humans, save the Zaru, observe the changing of the seasons with the celebration of Tiri-Zul (autumn harvest festival), Kuri-Zul (new year/winter festival), Vera-Zul (spring festival), and Ora-Zul (summer festival). These celebrations usually occur when the moon is not visible in the sky. Some humans who venerate Ayesha celebrate her birthday in early summer. The Zaru celebrate the end of summer storms in mid-autumn with a feast of seven fishes.

History

Humans have a long and storied history on the continent. From the mud huts and stone tools of the First Age to the castles and steel weapons of the Third Age, humanity has indeed come far. Sadly, cultural progress does not always mirror economic or scientific progress, as some groups of humans still seek to exploit and profit off others. The Empire of Edinniae was one such example of a nation built on subservience. Zargon is slowly shaking free of the shackles of inequality, as the rights of the native Kaian people are finally being recognized by the Zaru rulers. The time of Edinu domination has faded, but the rising clout of the pirate lords may see the return of ancient glory. The Zaru of the coast meanwhile carry on much as they always have, their cities fiercely independent of each other. Hothir is a melting pot where Edinu, Zaru, and Kaian mix freely. Zargon has some separation of the peoples, as class and race tend to go together. This is changing, albeit slowly.
