Sratrargot

The Creeping Death, The Hating Elder

Sratrargot is a unique deity in multiple aspects. It came into this universe when Order and Chaos created the universe and has stuck around since then. Scholars speculate that Sratrargot comes from beyond the edges of the multiverse, from the Outer Madness. If this is true, it would make Sratrargot the only entity outside of the direct influence of The One Above.   Sratrargot is the creator of the oozes and slimes and was their only deity. However, in a fit of madness he robbed all of his creation of intelligence and thus robbed himself of almost all of his divine power, making him a practically worshipper-less deity. Aboleth and other sapient abberations pay lip-service to Sratrargot but almost never become clerics. It is only in the last few centuries that drow started worshipping him, thus making him part of the pantheon. No drow city has an official church for Sratrargot; all of its clerics operate in secrecy. This extended Sratrargot's portfolio to include rebels and outcasts as well.   Sratrargot's true appearance is, just like that of many creatures from the Outer Madness, beyond describing and is enough to drive people insane. When it decides to appear, it does so as an ooze with a purplish hue giving of a malevolent radiance.   Sratrargot is chaotic evil.

Tenets of Faith

Srartrargot's church is pretty much non-existent. Unconnected groups of followers can be found all over the world but for any sense of organization one should look at the cults found in some drow cities.   Worship of Srartargot is relatively easy. His clerics are free in their worship so long as they make sacrifices on set dates. When Sratrargot gives a follower an order chances are that it is to destroy and plunder the temples of other gods.   Many of the people who turn to Sratrargot do so because they want to gain power or want to sow destruction.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

No one knows what Sratrargot's true goals are as all the deity does is causing suffering of watching people suffer. It may well be that it sunk too far in its madness to actually have an agenda beyond death, suffering and destruction.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Sratrargot is universally reviled and the feeling is mutual. Sratrargot hates all of creation with whole of his heart and would gladly end all life in the universe. Although Sratrargot obviously is malevolent the good deities leave him alone. Their followers are encouraged to fight Sratrargot's (though many already do so out of common sense) but Sratrargot's madness and his limited following prevents it from being a serious threat. Attacking it directly would cost more than it would gain.   The most evil deities are similarly disgusted by Sratrargot. Some work against him, others ignore him; however, Jysyoss tries to use it to do her dirty work at times.   Nominally Sratrargot is part of the Drow pantheon. This is only because a number of drow have turned to worshipping it instead of the more traditional gods.
