Grey Elf

Grey Elves are the result of centuries of interbreeding between Drow and Sun Elves. This mixed heritage is visible in their light hair colour and haughty attitude. Of all the elven sub-races, the Grey Elves are the most uncommon. Their origins lay in a group of Sun Elves in Fellaga who believed that the Drow were punished too harsh and who sought to reconcile the two groups again. These efforts have had little success as the Drow are still largely evil in that region but a working relationship has been established between the Grey Elven Kingdom of Fellaga and the Drow city-state of Dir Vogwen. Outside of Fellaga, a few settlements exist but no real nations. Grey Elves get their names from the slightly greyish hue their skin has. They usually have light silver or light golden hair with violet eyes (courtesy of their drow ancestry) or amber eyes (courtesy of their Sun Elf ancestry). Grey Elves are on average taller than the other elven races. Another common trait among Grey Elves is their arrogance which is considered absurd, even by other elves. The only elves that might equal a Grey Elf's arrogance are the Avariel.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Grey Elves are regarded with distrust and dislike by other elves. Hardliners might see Grey Elves are abominations to be exterminated while more temperate elves see the Grey Elves' arrogance as a reason to avoid them. Generally, Drow feel the same hatred against Grey Elves as they do towards the other elves. The Avariel consider the Grey Elves to be the elves most like them but as both peoples are quite dominant, individuals tend to clash. Among elves, Grey Elves will only find a warm welcome among other Grey Elves or some measure of acceptance among the Drow of Dir Vogwen. Because of the almost universal disgust they are met with, Grey Elves can relate best with other outcasts of society like Tieflings and Aasimar. Half-Orcs are met with distrust because of their Orc heritage and Half-Elves are seen as second-class elves. Kender are seen as scum.

Immunity to sleep spells and effects, and a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells or effects. Low-light vision. Weapon Proficiency: Elves are automatically proficient with the longsword, rapier, longbow, composite longbow, shortbow, and composite shortbow. +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. An elf who merely passes within 5 feet of a secret or concealed door is entitled to a Search check to notice it as if she were actively looking for it. Automatic Languages: Common, Elven. Bonus Languages: Draconic, Gnoll, Gnome, Goblin, Orc, Sylvan. Favored Class: Wizard.
