The Heartland

The Heartland is the heart of the Argan Empire and is it's core province. It is the most populous province with over a million of its citizens living in just the capital of Arga alone. Its renowned for its lush grassland that grows much of the food consumed throughout the empire. This is especially true in the city known as The Farm which is a gigantic complex of farming estate that produces millions of pounds of crops.

Geography

The Heartland is comprised mostly of grassland with a lush farming network. There are a few hills to its south that separate it from the Lake Lands as well as the Steel Mountains that serve as its eastern border. It has one river that flows from the mountains into Lake Arga on its Northwestern edge. It does have an area of deadland surrounding The Factorium in the south which is due to the many emissions given off from the colossal factories.

Fauna & Flora

The vast majority of creatures are raised domestically to serve as food sources and those include the Argan Great Cows which are cattle that have been selectively bred to achieve enormous size with many of them being over 10 feet tall and yielding over 3000lbs of usable meat per cow. There are other creatures that inhabit the land, however. The Goblins of the Steel Mountains regularly attempt raids on the farming communities but most of them are dealt with by the Scarecrows, a guard force of specifically trained imperial soldiers equipped with stilts to see over the large fields of crops and dual repeating crossbows that make short work of most of the goblin intruders.
