The Rider Volmn

Along the southern frosty coast of Yaldica, the people of Boralad speak of a long forgotten civilization whose lands their ancestors settled in. Ruins, weathered down to sad shells of their formers selves. Within a jagged husk in the mountains, a narrow tunnel leads to a domed room. Scholars discovered ancient text and murals along the walls. The most controversial depicts a figure sweeping overhead a city aflame. Vague translations refer to him as "The Rider Volmn".   "From the dark above the Rider Volmn appears. The harvester arrives to reap what he desires. Upon his steed of light he can be seen before his arrival. His gaze lights the mountain tops. His form is monstrous as he attacks, streaks of light follow his projectiles. Thunder and fire are his weapons and destruction is his desire. Once sated he leaves until his light cannot be seen again. Look upon westward skies and pray mercy when he returns."   There has been much debate among scholarly folk about the contents of this message. Was it a literal entity that caused havoc when it appeared or was an explanation for an event that people at the time could not understand? Some view a specific region of land that appears to have various sized concaved pockets throughout as proof of some kind of entity. Others point towards the westward light indicating its arrival, centuries have gone by without word of any luminate anomalies.    The text is well known within the region and has even been adapted into the Boralad culture. Parents will tell stories to children about Volmn taking children that are out after dark or in the fields during sowing/harvest seasons. To the average citizen, not manner are too worried about Volmn actually appearing. There are some that believe that it is real and it is only a matter of time before it returns.
