Mordu Toff

Lieutenant of the Northern Company, Commander on the Bridge, BridgeFord Guardian Mordu Toff (a.k.a. The Axe)

Mordu Toff comes from a proud line that can be traced back to a time where the Kingdom of Annok was still alive. His ancestors worked within the inner palace and were highly regarded by the royal family. When Emperor Amakir invaded Annok, it was also a relative that undermined Annok for a position within the Empire. This story passed down the lines and when retold to Mordu it filled him with disappointment. That one of his own ancestors betrayed the family and the kingdom for a modest wealth. Although most inhabitants of The Trade Lands have forgotten, he has taken a silent vow to restore his family's honor by returning the kingdom to the people and ridding them of the Trade Barons.

Education

Coming from a family of rank, Mordu attended the military academy in BridgeFord. Here he and his classmates learned the fundamentals of warfare along with reading, writing, and math. He became well versed in tactics, learning how to respond to enemy formations during mock battles. Mordu would learn how to use a variety of weapons, preferring an axe over sword and shield do to his larger than average size. He lived in the dormitories for 10 years, graduating at age 18.

Employment

When he came of age, Mordu chose to join the military as an officer than to squire under a noble. He was well grounded in tactics and showed potential and was given control of a small group and served under senior officer Heralt Spanser.

Mental Trauma

His experience in the Remnant Incursion greatly shaped how he perceived leadership within the The Trade Lands. He has naively led charges into frontlines with the understanding that his superiors knew what they were doing. Only to discover that it was not for any objectives, no ploys, just killing. Mordu had buried many friends and the only gain was an empty field, just to become another killing zone. He saw that people were just numbers to them much like the gold they spend on luxuries beyond the reach of peasants. He became critical of orders and decisions, in some cases being punished for not following orders directly.

"I may not know the specifics, but you all arrive the same way. Bribing and shaking down one another until you reach the top. This is not the way rulers should arrive.  My band and I are leaving and you don't have enough gold to buy my loyalty. For if we return you are going to need it."
