The Akishina Clan
An Earthborne family of royalty, the Akishina Clan hold most of the power throughout Tassuru. Nothing happens without them knowing or having a hand in it. Their customs and traditions permeate through most of human life in the city, asserting the importance of family over the individual. This has brought the humans together in many beneficial ways, but more often to their detriment. Fear for the fae and okun is created by the Akishina, for they see the other races as competitors. As the unofficial administrators of the market economy, the Akishina structure social classes to their benefit. Those that favor their corrupt rule are granted special treatment. Those who oppose them suffer. If it weren't for the more benevolent fae and okun, humans would only be cogs in the societal machine of Akishina.
Structure
Theocratic Monarchy, Primogeniture-- "The Oron" is the title of the Clan's leader. An Oron is always succeeded by their firstborn, regardless of gender. They derive their rule from Earthborne gods, of mostly Shinto and Japanese origin.
Public Agenda
Depending on the current ruling Oron, most push to reinstate a full divine monarchy in Tassuru.
Assets
They own ~30% of property in Tassuru, and hundreds of billions of drekmahs. They house themselves in a massive, 32-story palace on the outskirts of Tassuru, with an army guarding them. They have even more spies and bought-politicians within the city of Tassuru.
History
They are descended from a group of settlers that made their way from the royal family of Japan on Earth to Theros. They brought technological development that helped to tame the volatile magic of Theros, leading to the birth of Tassuru and Thern. They invented mahkari, and are still the main source of its production to present day.
