The Circle
The greatest tradition of the nine orcish tribes is the yearly pilgrimage they call the circle. Usually in the early spring, (most often on the equinox) the tribe tasked with the Long Walk will reach Sud Vas, the orcish holy site (Vas), in the northern reaches of the Gold Plains. The meeting of two tribes is cause for a week long celebration where stories, goods, and sometimes members are traded, followed by hunts, tournaments of strength and skill, and a sacrifice to the spirits. At the end of the week. The arriving tribe officially claims dominion of the Vas and the other begins their journey to the next one. This chain of pilgrimage follows down the line of the eight Vas until Chan Vas in the late fall, where the departing tribe must undertake the Long Walk, the longest stretch of the Circle that will take the tribe through the mountains and across the inland steppes during winter. The Circle comes to completion in the spring as the tribe reaches Sud Vas.
The Circle is kept in a semblance of regularity due to it being considered in poor taste to reach the next Vas too soon, and a sign of a tribes weakness to arrive too late. Much of the tribes time between sites is spent hunting, exploring, and trading with the numerous people they meet along the way.
