Session 8 - Back to Phandalin

Report:

Gundren's Goons head out from Conyberry's Ruins and make the trek down Triboar Trail back to Phandalin. That afternoon on the road back they are ambushed by some six goblins hiding in the brush. Caught unawares arrows fly out towards the party members on the road. Gundren's Goons spring into action talking out the ambushing goblins one by one until the goblins realize they are outmatched and attempt to flee in vain. Our Goons continue traveling until dusk where they make camp some distance off the road. That night as Kailo is keeping watch he hears an owlbear rustling around. He awakens the rest of the party as it gets near the camp. Kailo lets fly an arrow at the Owlbear and the Owlbear then charges towards the camp, mauling Xavien and then begins dragging him away. The party desperately attacks the owlbear until it finally let's go Xavien. Aether casts healing word on Xavien who awakens and shoots off scorching ray finishing off the owlbear that tried to make him a meal. The party finishes resting for the night and break camp in the morning to continue their trek back to Phandalin. The party encounters a swarm of giant wasps buzzing around a tree near the road. The Goons debate whether they should stay clear and walk around the wasps when Xavien cast shatter on the flying insects. The swarm becoming agitated attacks the party. Gundren's Goons then go about taking out the wasps with relative ease and then go about harvesting the stingers. The party continues along the road and make it to Phandalin at dusk. They make their way to the Stonehill Inn, Xavien gives the innkeeper some wasp meat to throw in the stew. The party goes about eating supper and drinking. Xavien drinks until the point he passes out, Aether drags him up to his room and the party calls it a night.

The next morning Xavien awakens with a bump on his and pain in his ass. The party goes downstairs and breaks their fast then goes about turning in their quests. They head over to the Shrine of Luck and Xavien gives Sister Garaele the information she wanted from the banshee. After that the group heads over to the Townmasters Hall and informs Sildar that they found the base camp of the Orcs raiding party and took out the orcs there. Sildar pays them for taking out the orc threat, and urges the group to find Gundren as he is growing concern about his well being. Gundren's Goons then head over to the Lionshield Coster to purchase some equipment and informs Linene Graywind - the woman running the trading post that they have found crates of her goods in the cragmaw cave.
