Session 7 - The Banshee's Answer

The Party:
Aether – Level 3 Human, Circle of the Moon Druid
Duncun – Level 3 Human, Champion Fighter
Kailo - Level 3 Wood Elf, Kensei Monk
Xavien - Level 3 High Elf, Necromancer Wizard

Report:

As the ogre falls javelins start flying towards the party from the entrance of the cave and orcs begin to flood out and move to attack the party. As the orcs begun to surround Kailo. Duncun lets loose an arrow then draws his longsword Talon and moves up to meet the orcs. Aether in her lion form attempts to pounce on another orc. Xavien casts shatter on the orcs around Kailo, killing two of them; however Kailo ends up being in the blast and also suffers the effects of the spell. Aether comes out of wild shape to cast healing word on Kailo, and casts flame blade. The party picks off the rest of the ocs and slay the orc bands leader.

The party goes about looting the orcs and decided to rest at the cave and wait until the next morning to to head back out. The party goes about piling the the orc bodies with the ogre and burn the corpses. After some discussion on where they should go the next day they decide and heading to the banshee's liar as it should only be a days travel to Conyberry. The group turn in for the night with the elves splitting watch shifts. On the second shift Xavien hears footsteps and sees a orc peek around the corner. At which point the orc sees Xavien and begins to run out of the cave. Xavien goes to Kailo to alert the group that an orc came peeking into the cave, but Kailo shurgs it off telling Xavien not to worry and not to bother waking up the human members of the party. The next morning Xavien insists he saw an orc last night to the party. As they leave the cave they notice orc tracks around the remains of the ogre and orcs that were burned. 

Gundren's Goons begin their trek up north towards the ruins of Conyberry. Late into the afternoon they stumble upon a hungry owlbear on the trail, who then beings to charge the party. The party move to defend themselves but every time someone gets within melee range the owlbear knocks them unconscious with its big meaty paw. Both Kailo and Duncun go down, Aether casts healing word on Kailo while Duncun manages to regain consciousness. The rest of the party seeing the other two being tossed around so easily by the beast keep their distance and they are able to eventually slay the best.  The party make camp about six miles from the ruins of Conyberry and have an uneventful night.  

The party makes it to Conyberry's ruins in the morning and via Sister Garaele instructions find the trail north of the village leading to Agatha's liar in Neverwinter Wood. Gundren's Goons eventually come across a domed shaped shelter made from warped tree branches and knock on the door. After no response they check to see if its unlocked when its not they enter the shelter. They find a lightly furnished room as they gather inside the shelter and shortly after they enter the banshee Agatha manifests, angry that they have entered her home. Xavien quickly explains they are looking for information and offers Agatha the silver comb that Sister Garaele gave them to offer to the banshee. Agatha happily accepts the gift and tells Xavien she will answer one question for them. Xavien asks where the spellbook of Bowgentle is and Agatha tells them that she traded the book to a necromancer named Tsernoth from the city of Iriaebor more than a hundred years ago. With that the party thanks the banshee and make their way back to Phandalin with two quests now under their belts.
