Report:

Aether, Duncun, and Kailo awaken to the smell of smoke, poorly cured hides, and unwashed goblins. Our party's hands and feet are bound and they have been laid atop some rubble on the northern part of this caverns chamber. They have been stripped of their packs, weapons, and armor. As they look around the chamber to get their bearings they notice four goblins around a cooking fire all chatting away in goblin, the southern half of the chamber is divided by a 10 foot high escarpment, with a steep natural staircase leading from the lower portion to the upper ledge. On the higher portion of the chamber, they notice Sildar Hallwinter by the ledge - bound and badly beaten as well as another Goblin laying about. As their eyes wander around the chamber Duncun makes eye contact with one of the goblins by the fire. The goblin looks at him smiles revealing crooked sharp teeth and in common says "fresh meat" laughs and turns back to the fire and his fellow goblins. Duncun in fright and thinking that the goblins won't eat him if he has soiled himself immediately evacuates his bowels.

Kailo checks and sees that the Goblins didn't take his thieves tools and begins to covertly free his hands from their binds. Aether no longer with her arcane focus thinks on her feet, uses some of Duncuns runny excrement to cast the spell ice knife. A brown shard of ice flies straight into the skull of one of the goblins and explodes - the shrapnel ends up killing one of the other goblins while the third manages to dodge out of the way. Combat ensues - Duncun skims across the ground to one of the down goblins takes its scimitar and proceeds to cut his hands and feet loose. The goblin that dodged the brown ice shrapnel stabs Aether in anger, while another goblin goes to stab Kailo, however, Kailo shimmies out of the way and then proceeds to kick the goblin with such force as to kill the wretched green creature. Aether poison sprays the goblin who stabbed her - killing the goblin. Duncun now no longer bound strides up the top stairs - now on the top-level notices an elf unconscious on the southernmost point of the chamber and their equipment by the east wall - and attacks the goblin there. The goblin in desperation then grabs Sildar, drags him over to the edge and yells "Truce, or this human dies!"

Kailo and Aether both take fallen goblin scimitars and unbind themselves and stand but dare not make a move. Duncun, not one to negotiate with goblins goes to throw his scimitar at the thing and ends up throwing it down the escarpment. Kailo quick-thinking then says to the goblin "See he threw down his arms, truce!" The goblin believes Kailo and proceeds to explain that he is known as Yeemik, second in command of the hideout and wants to be the one in charge. Yeemik tells the party that if they kill Klarg they, as well as their friend Sildar, will be free to go. Sildar tells the party not to trust the goblin and when Aether asks him where Gundren is as Sildar goes to answer, Yeemik yells at Sildar to shut up and yanks him further over the edge. The party agrees to slay Klarg, despite being apprehensive as Klarg is the one that knocked them all out with little trouble. Yeemik gives the party and their gear back and kicks the unconscious elf awake unbinds him and gives him to the party to help them out.

The party redons their armor and weapons, noticing that all their money, as well as the healing potion that Kailo snagged from Klargs chest, are no longer with their equipment. They then introduce themselves to their new party member a high elf wizard by the name of Xavien. The party then makes their way through the cave, with the elves taking the lead and the humans hanging behind. Kailo comes to a corner where the bridge is and sees a goblin on the other side looking towards the cave entrance. He then tells Xavien to attack the goblin at the same time as him. Kailo lets loose an arrow that flies past the goblins head, while Xavien shoots off a ray of frost that hits the cavern wall. The goblin then looks up and across the bridge to the two elves, but before he can react Aether and Duncun jump around the corner. Aether throws her flame at the goblin, catching its hair on fire while Duncun lets loose an arrow from his longbow shooting the goblin dead. The goblins body falls off the rickety rope bridge to the lower level and the party makes their way across. Kailo sneaks down the rest of the passage towards the waterfall and pool chamber and finds a lone goblin looking at the pools of water. Kailo takes his spear and stabs the goblin then deals a final blow with his fist. Our heroes then move quietly move up to the entrance of Klargs chambers and see him along with his wolf - Ripper sitting at the fire. The four prepare themselves for the attack.

The party springs into action catching Klarg and Ripper off-guard. Kailo runs up the stairs into the chambers and stabs Klarg with his spear and tries to get a kick in but Klarg manages to block the unarmed strike. Xavien goes to shoot out a ray of frost at Klarg but in his excitement, releases the spell with his hand still pointed in the air. Duncun then draws his longbow and lets an arrow fly piercing Klargs knee. Aether then calls up a flame and hurls it at Klarg burning his arm. Kailo moves in with another attack stabbing and punching, but Klarg now gaining some composure, holds up his shield and blocks both of Kailo's attacks. Ripper goes to defend his master, pounces on Kailo and takes a huge bite out of and knocking him to the ground. Xavien shoots off another ray of frost but to his frustration, his shot goes wide, missing his target once again. Klarg, none too pleased that the food supply has returned and attacked him once again, grimly exclaims -"This time Karg will build a throne from your bones." - takes his morningstar and brings it down on Kailo, knocking him unconscious with the vicious blow. Duncun lets fly another arrow shooting Klarg in the crotch. Klarg begins to profusely bleed out ane exclaims "Klarg's Dick!" before fainting. Now that Klarg has been dealt with Aether goes to poison spray Ripper to no effect and then casts a healing word on Kailo bringing him back to consciousness. Now awaken Kailo desperately attempts to grapple the wolf to no avail. Ripper then bites Kailo in the throat dropping him unconscious once again as he severely bleeds out. Xavien then shoots off yet another ray of frost, this time now aiming for the wolf connecting with his target and the wolfs fur begins to frost up. Duncun moves to the south of the chamber and draws his longbow letting fly an arrow into the hide of the wolf. Aether extends her hand towards the wolf and noxious gas projects from her palm. Ripper inhales the poison then exhales a large amount of blood as it drops dead. Seeing Kailo on the floor bleeding out Xavien moves towards him and attempts to stabilize the elven monk but is unsure quite what to do. Duncun quickly thinking pops open the chest sees the potion of healing sitting atop the coins grabs it and gives Kailo a potion enema. Kailo awakens fully healed as a cooling sensation radiates from his rectum throughout his body, closing any wounds that were inflicted on him.

The party takes some time to loot the room, splitting the coins in Klargs chest. Aether takes her sickle and cuts off the head of Klarg as proof to Yeemik that the deed is done. Duncun skins Ripper the wolf to take its hide. They then go through the pile of supplies and take whatever they want from the horde of stolen goods before making their way back to Yeemik.

The party makes their way back to Yeemik, as they walk back into the chamber Yeemik grabs Sildar and asks "Is it done?" Aether goes to throw the head of Klarg at Yeemik but just ends up hitting the top of the ledge and the head rolls back down to her feet. She shrugs "yea we killed him that's his head as proof."
Yeemik exclaims "Yes now you pay ransom for human gives me all yours coins."
The party very tired of Yeemiks shit - decide to end him. Kailo draws his short bow and shoots Yeemik dead. Sildar manages to keep his balance and not fall off the ledge Aether runs up to Sildar and hugs him in joy that he is ok. Sildar bruised and battered grimaces as she does so and ask her to cut him loose for his bindings.

Sildar Hallwinter explains that Klarg had orders to waylay Gundren. Sildar heard from the goblins that the Black Spider sent word that the dwarf was to be brought to him. He believes that Klarg sent Gundren as well as his map to Wave Echo Cave - a lost mine that Gundren and his two brothers have rediscovered - to the chief of the Cragmaws at a place called Cragmaw Castle. Sildar then asks the party to escort him to Phandalin and offers to pay them 50 gold to do so, as he is bruised and beaten and his gear was taken to Cragmaw Castle along with Gundren and his map.

Kailo goes to the waterfall chamber and dismantles the dams creating the pools so the water surge traps the goblins set up will be disarmed. After some discussion on whether or not they should either free or kill the three wolf chained up by the entrance, they decide to leave them there to die and move to exit the cave. When they reach the cave entrance they notice two goblins in the thicket lookout chatting it up. The Party makes short work of them with Duncun shooting the one with its back to them with an arrow and Xavien shooting a ray of frost and the one facing them. The party then makes their way down the trail back to the Triboar Trail. Once they make their way back to the road they are relieved to find that their cart and oxen are just as they left it. With night approaching and weary from their escape from the Cragmaw hideout they decide to make camp on the road, with the elves taking watch. The night passes uneventfully with the exception of Xavien casting prestidigitation to clean a sleeping Duncun's shit covered pants.

Refreshed from a night of rest our party hits the road to Phandalin. They make their way 10 miles down the Triboar trail before turning south down a rutted trail to Phandalin. 5 miles down the trail to Phandalin a swarm of 6 stirges - creatures that look like a horrid cross between a large bat and an oversized mosquito - descends upon our party. Duncun jumps off the wagon and swats at one with his greatsword knocking it dead to the ground. Xavian tries to grab one of the stirges but it quickly flies out of the way. 2 of the stirges try to latch onto to Xavian but he is able to hold them off, while 3 go for Duncun and 2 manage to latch on. Kailo, on the other side of the wagon jumps onto it and then roundhouse kicks one of the stirges out of the air. Sildar jumps off the wagon and tries to pull one of the stirges off Duncun with no success. Duncun then pulls one off himself and crushes it in his fist. Xavian goes to grab one of the ones flying around him and uses shocking grasp to make it explode in his hands. Aether grabs the other one flying around Xavian and crushes it in her hands. The stirge latched onto Duncun begins to suck his blood and in anger Duncun grabs the damn thing and crushes it in his hand. The party take a moment to catch their breath and continue on their way to Phandalin....

"You see Gundren and his two brothers recently found the entrance to the long lost Wave Echo Cave. What? You don't know about the lost cave? Well more then five hundred years ago, clans of dwarves and gnomes made an agreement known as the Phandelver's Pact, by which they would share a rich mine in a wondrous cavern known as Wave Echo Cave. In addition to its mineral wealth, the mine contained great magical power. Human spellcasters allied themselves with the dwarves and gnomes to channel and bind that energy into a great forge that they called the Forge of Spells, where they crafted magic items. Times were good, and the nearby human town of Phandalin prospered as well. But then disaster struck when orcs swept through the North and laid waste to all in their path. This powerful force of orcs reinforced by evil mercenary wizards attacked Wave Echo Cave to seize its riches and magic treasures. The human wizards fought alongside their dwarf and gnome allies to defend the Forge of Spells, and the ensuing spell battle destroyed much of the cavern. Few survived the cave-ins and tremors, and the location of Wave Echo Cave was lost."
