The Drynnwa (Drinn-wah)

A race that lives on the planet Driwynn, they are elementally touched Drynn and are the most common form of magic user or magic touched among the Drynn.   They have a long history on among the magically null Drynn, one rife with friction with a pendulum of a power balance that has lead to many wars and racially motivated strife.    In the current time, they enjoy generally equal status among the Drynn and many hold positions of vast power. There are simmering undercurrents of discontent however as there are subsets of Drynn society among the varied cultures that equate any use of magic as the province of those who were the adversaries of the Union of Gilnares during the dissolution and tie the perception that the Drynn were driven from their rightful place to that use of magic.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Drynnwa have roughly the same anatomy as the Drynn, depending on their particular aspect however the similarities end.    Air aspected Drynnwa are known as Aurel in Ulang and can have varied shades of blue in their skin tone, strange magical effects emphasizing their elemental air nature and can often float upon the wind currents.    Earth Aspected Drynnwa are most commonly called Tare in Ulang, they can have hardened skin or a seemingly endless spattering of dust and mud following them and are often seen as metallic version of an average Drynn, sometimes spotted with rust and other verdigris though this does not impact their health at all. They can often move through rougher terrain without duress.    Enwa are fire aspected Drynnwa, they can have fiery hair or eyes and ashy skin with the scent of an eternal forest fire seeming to follow them, or brimstone. They can resist even the highest heat and are often found working in locations that might requires protective gear for anyone else. These are the least common Drynnwa.    The last of the Drynnwa variations are the Hieral, water aspected and the most common Drynnwa on the planet. Most smell of fresh saltwater with blue or green skin and can often have oddly floating hair, as though part of them exists on an entirely different realm. They can breath water and swim easily.

Genetics and Reproduction

Drynnwa reproduce the same as Drynn with not changes to Gestation time. Drynnwa make up around 25% of the population, a number that is at its highest its ever been in history due to the normalization of their status under the Union of Gilnares.    Drynnwa breed true with other Drynnwa with 25% more regularity than the chance of a Drynnwa being born of two Drynn with that chance reduced to 13%. The Drynnwa type is also somewhat random though two Drynnwa of the same type of a 50% chance, if their child is Drynnwa, of having a child of the same type as them.    The mutation that creates Drynnwa is thought to be tied in some way to the same gene that makes the average Drynn a magical null but this route of research has not made any real strides in the past several hundred years. This research is stalled by both the difficulty in quantifying the unknown thaumaturgic elements as well as the rampant possibility for abuse and the race focused politics surrounding the existence of Drynnwa.    There is little political will in most of the nations of Driwynn to further open a potential pandoras box when it comes to unravelling the genetics between the two species.

Ecology and Habitats

Drynnwa can live anywhere that a Drynn can live though they tend to be at their best and most comfortable in areas where their inborn elemental affinity is more prevalent.

Behaviour

Loosely aligned to the Drynn average, the Drynnwa live a uniquely different enough life that it shapes them differently across their lifetime.    Depending on the culture of the nation in which they grew up, racism and cultural pressures from the surrounding Drynn can effect the behavior and psychological makeup of a Drynnwa.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Drynnwa have historically moved on a pendulum within Drynn society, fluctuating between holding vast power due to their elemental nature and being hunted and constrained for the same reason by the magically null Drynn.    Currently they are well integrated and are afforded the same rights as Drynn but the memory is longer than the policy and Drynnwa tend to look to their own for safety and leadership when possible.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Drynnwa live wherever Drynn are welcome and in some cases, where they are not like among the Erowa.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Entirely dependent on the culture they have come from, though they often incorporate their element into their name in some fashion.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Drynnwa are often more accepted outside of the Drynn spaces than within as many other species have not seen a Drynnwa and might identify them as an unseen or unmet species as well as the aspects of their personage that cause them friction among the Drynn are not looked upon in the same way elsewhere.    Unfortunately they sometimes are painted in the same vein as the Drynn, those that dislike Drynn are just as like to dislike Drynnwa. They were and still are actively involved with the Union of Gilnares, both of its extent entities and might sometime find friction through that.

Drynnwa off Driwynn

Drynnwa live wherever Drynn live and a few places extra besides. They are much more rare off of Driwynn than Drynn are though many do move off-world to escape political and racial tensions that crop up in the various nations of the Drynn.    They can often live in areas that are not conducive to comfortable life for the average Drynn, living in the deep oceans or sweeping deserts on the varied worlds of the Gilnares system.

Drynnwa in the Union of Gilnares

Drynnwa were and often still are strong supporters of the Union of Gilnares due to the forced normalization of their status across the entirety of Driwynn and across Union space. Many joined the military during the Dissolution in an attempt to help hold the Union together and the Dissolution itself is often a sore spot for Drynnwa.
