Gnomes
Gnomes were created during the Age of Tyranny as pets for the tyrant-mages. Rumored to be bred from Dwarves and Halflings in captivity, they were the jesters and slaves for the aristocracy. Though treated better than some of the races, they were still seen as inferior by their masters in the same way as a pet dog.
Though Gnomes were not heavily involved in the First Rebellion, their participation in the Second Rebellion was crucial to the successful overthrow of the tyrant-mages. Rather than acting as soldiers, they became spies and assassins, collecting information on their masters and killing key targets at pivotal moments, leading to the fall of many aristocratic houses with minimal difficulty.
Today, Gnomes wander Wresnet as any other race does. Many are paranoid around Elves but are otherwise quite amiable to all the beings they encounter. Few races, however, are more dedicated to preventing the return of the tyrant-mages, for their old masters are unlikely to look kindly at their betrayal.
