Dwarves
During the Age of Tyranny, the Dwarves enjoyed a level of autonomy that many of the other races did not. Though still under the domain of the tyrant-mages, their underground operations meant that they interacted with few of their masters beyond the Drow overseers. Since the Dwarves were already performing the smithing and mining duties that were required of them, they were mostly left to their own devices.
This autonomy eventually facilitated the tyrant-mages' downfall. The Dwarves were not closely watched, which allowed the manufacture and distribution of firearms to occur before anyone noticed the threat. Despite the fact that the majority of Dwarves did not participate in the First Rebellion, their liberty was severely curtailed afterwards as punishment for Winneth Nessa's blasphemous invention. It was thanks to these restrictions that the Dwarves joined the Second Rebellion more wholeheartedly than before, something scholars say was key to defeating the tyrant-mages.
Today, the Dwarves of Wresnet enjoy a similar life to the one they had before the First Rebellion. Their priorities are still smithing and mining, and they still offer taxes to the official government. They are, however, the masters of their own fate, which is how they like it.
